The police have cracked a cross-provincial "buried treasure with poison" case, where the suspects used virtual coin transactions.

Gate News bot message, PANews reported on June 30 that the Shanghai police have cracked a cross-province drug trafficking case. A post-2000s suspect was conducting drug transactions through a "buried treasure" method in seven provinces and cities. The suspect buried hundreds of packets of marijuana in green belts across multiple locations, earning 50 yuan in profit per packet.

The suspect contacted the buyer through overseas chat software. After the buyer paid with virtual currency, they received a location photo of the poison burial site and then went to dig it up themselves. The suspect drove through 7 provinces, using the vehicle as a mobile base, eating and living in the car while also burying the poison and taking location photos.

Currently, the suspect has been approved for arrest by the prosecution for allegedly trafficking drugs, and the investigation is still ongoing. According to statistics, since 2024, the Shanghai police have solved 278 drug cases and arrested 791 drug crime suspects.
