On May 1, 2024, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) appointed Dr. Ted Kaouk as its first Chief AI Officer to strengthen regulation and enforcement in the derivatives market. In his current role as Chief Data Officer, Dr. Kaouk will be responsible for designing and implementing data and AI strategies. Previously, he successfully implemented data analytics and artificial intelligence platforms in government agencies. On the same day, the CFTC Technical Advisory Committee will hold an "AI Day" event to discuss the responsible use of AI in the financial sector.
