The founder of DBA and the strategic director of Flashbots initiated a proposal to "reduce the total supply of HYPE by 45%".
Foresight News reports that Jon Charbonneau, founder of the crypto investment company DBA and the crypto blog Uncommon Core 2.0, along with Hasu, strategic director of Flashbots, has initiated a proposal to "reduce the total supply of HYPE by 45%." The proposal suggests the following changes to Hyperliquid's economic model: revoke all authorizations of unminted HYPE currently allocated for future unlocks and community rewards (FECR); destroy all HYPE currently held in the Assistance Fund (AF), and all HYPE continuously acquired by the AF will also be destroyed; cancel the maximum supply limit of 10 HYPE. Ongoing token issuance (e.g., for staking issuance or community rewards) will increase the total supply. The proposers state that Hyperliquid currently has a significant amount of authorized uncirculated tokens, which may pose issues, and this proposal will not affect the relative ownership of existing HYPE token holders over the protocol economy, the ability to participate in the Hyperliquid funding value appreciation program, or the decision-making process of these matters. The proposers disclose that one or more investment funds managed by DBA hold a significant Position in HYPE tokens, and both co-authors also hold HYPE. If this proposal goes to formal governance voting, and DBA, its affiliates, and/or co-authors are able to participate, all co-authors currently intend to vote in favor (subject to circumstances).
