The White House is considering nominating Josh Sterling as the chairman of the CFTC.
On September 24, the White House is considering nominating Josh Sterling as the chairman of the CFTC. Josh Sterling previously served as the head of the Market Participants Division at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). His responsibilities at the CFTC included overseeing the compliance of registered participants in the U.S. derivatives market, such as banks, intermediaries, asset management companies, and others; monitoring whether these entities adhere to reporting rules, registration requirements, and compliance with trading activities, among others. He was also involved in the rule-making process under the Dodd-Frank Act at the CFTC and pushed for several landmark enforcement cases. Sterling is currently a partner at MiCEX law firm, focusing on regulatory and enforcement matters in areas such as derivatives, financial market infrastructure, and Crypto Assets.
